Grand Gateway 66 was one of Shanghai's first urban mixed-use complexes, comprising of a shopping mall and two 52-story Class A office towers with serviced apartments. The project's unique style and elegance has made it a modern landmark of Shanghai, adding a Western-style urban experience to the dynamic Xujiahui commercial district, and instantly becoming one of the biggest competitors in Shanghai's high-end retail market. Grand Gateway was groundbreaking and unprecedented in many ways, as Shanghai's largest shopping mall at the time, the first with a direct connection to a metro station, and the first to include a grand atrium and an outdoor European-style dining street.
