OFF THE RED SEA
As part of an invited design competition, the above excerpts articulate a vision of developing a major retail, office and hospitality township around the 1,000m world's tallest tower presently under construction off the Red Sea in Jeddah. Sited along a man-made lake, the concept includes a major enclosed mall, several hotels and a large convention center and the proposed design explores the notion of shade, connectivity and sustainability and complements as well as contrasts the iconic and sculpted architectural language of the tower by its sinuous roof structure.
